Access and Accommodations

Access and Accommodations:

There are a number of airlines flying into Male. All flights as of today are listed in the table below.

Many resorts are available on both North and South Male Atoll, where the capital city of Male and the airport are located. Regular hotels are also available, but be aware that you cannot consume alcohol in regular hotels or guest houses, only at resorts, on Dhonis, and at the Airport Hotel Hulfule. Resorts on North and South Male Atoll typically use speedboat pickup from the airport so that travelers can immediately go to those resorts even with a night arrival. Guests on remote atolls are typically transported by sea plane or air taxi, but these do not have service at night; thus, if you fly in after dark, you have to stay one night in Male, then fly out typically very early in the morning. There are a few domestic airports both north and south of Male at which domestic air lines (jet) are available even at night.

Our boat is stationed near Male, so booking your hotel or resort on North or South Male Atoll is the easiest and most time effective for your trip. We can cover neighboring atolls as well, with a fuel surcharge.

If you want to focus only on fishing, or have no time to enjoy the luxury of a resort, you can just stay in a Male hotel for 70USD or so per night per room. Also, there are an increasing number of guest houses available at reasonable rates. We can find the best accommodations and prices for you.

If you want to base on a remote atoll, we can transport the boat ahead of time to welcome you there.  Additional fuel charges and expenditures apply. Last time when we went to Noonu Atoll, we needed 350USD each way for 3.5 hours of transportation by speedboat from Male, plus 50USD per night for crew accommodations. Another note about this option is that the sea plane company decides the schedule only the day before, therefore it is not always possible to meet your ideal schedule. We recommend that you have at least 4-5 days of fishing planned, or split your trip into a few days of fishing and a few days of enjoying your resort's amenities.

For neighboring atolls like Ari Atoll or Vaavu Atoll, a resort will typically utilize sea plane transportation. However, because they are relatively close, you can take our speedboat in the morning to go to resort, drop off your luggage, then immediately go fishing. Or, to be more time- and cost-effective, you can go fishing with your luggage on the boat, then check in to the hotel at the end of the day.

Please note that not all resorts allow access of outside boats. Please be sure to get pre-approval from your resort to allow our boat access to pick you up and drop you off. If you are not sure, please contact us so we can recommend a resort with proper access. If you order a package tour, including both fishing and accommodations, we will ensure proper access. In the future, as more resorts allow access, we will make that list available on this website.
